Kids Happy New Year Crafts
Make “Cents” in the New Year
Items you will need:
Coffee Can
Color Tissue Paper
Liquid Starch
Paint Brush
What you will need to do:
Place the liquid starch into a bowl, set aside. Tear color tissue paper into small half dollar size pieces. Once this is done take your paint brush and dip it into your liquid starch. You will not need a lot of starch so wipe brush off on the side of the bowl. Use this to stick the color paper to the coffee can. Once all piece are on and can is covered. Go over the whole can with a thin coat of starch. While can is drying the adult should cut a slit into the lid of the can to create a bank.
Collect your “Cents” for the New Year in this bright colorful bank.

Colored Tissue Paper
Cut some of your color tissue paper into strips. Tape one end of the strips inside the edge of one paper plate. Next tape/staple another paper plate on top leaving enough room to pour in some dried beans. Once this is done tape/staple the plates shut. You will have plates w/ tissue paper strips hanging out. This is you’re your noise maker. Ask your child to rip pieces of tissue up into pieces and use the glue stick to decorate the paper plate.
Festive Hats
Items you will need:
Long Construction Paper
Glue/glue sticks
Scissors
Feathers
Ribbons
Stickers
Anything you want to decorate your hat
Fold your long piece of construction paper into the shape of a cone. Cut off the ends to make it flat to fit your head better. Add anything you want to decorate this festive hat. I recommend you add ribbon at the top to hang down in all directions.

Items you will need:
vegetable spray
4 cups popcorn, popped
3 cups miniature marshmallows
3 tbsp margarine
1 cup multicolored gumdrops, chopped
Or
Gummy Bears, chopped
Or
M&M’s
Or any colorful candy other then gumdrops.
Spray large bowl with vegetable spray. Mix popcorn and gumdrops in bowl. Mix marshmallows and margarine in large saucepan and melt over medium heat, stirring constantly. Pour marshmallow mixture over popcorn and candy toss until coated. Spray cooking spray on your hands, shape popcorn mixture into 8 balls. Work quickly to shape balls before mixture cools and hardens. Allow to set until serving time.
