This is a great craft to do with younger children who are just learning their colors as well as with teens and tweens. Not only is the craft fun to do, but it’s a great way to decorate for the 4th of July holiday.

For this craft you’ll need:

3 medium sized pots(you can use larger or smaller pots depending upon your preference though)

Potting Soil

Different varities of plants in red, white and blue colors(or seeds to grow plants in red, white, and blue colors)

Directions for the craft is as follows:

Fill the three pots with dirt.  If you have younger children, you may wish to just plant one plant variety in each pot.  If you have teens or tweens, you can plant several varieties of plants in each pot.  You can plant taller flowers in the middle or in the back of the pot.  Shorter plants can be planted near the outside of the pot and medium sized plants in the center of pot.

My children enjoy looking for plants at the local garden center because they have a larger selection of plant varieties.  However, it costs less to purchase plants at our local hardware store.
